Need more range for video wild life and this is great... 50 300mm with macro options

I had my hands on the Tamron 50-400 for 2 weeks and in terms of quality and versatility i absolutely loved it. But being an APS-C user who loves it a bit smaller and lighter, it is just too big and heavy for me. I loved the photos, but i wasnt thrilled about carrying it with me all the time so i just took it with me when i really really really was sure i would need it. And thats where the versatility factor comes to an end - when i have it not with me. So i am really looking forward to the 50-300. I don't necessarily need the 100mm more at the long end. With that crop factor in mind it is a field of view of 450mm anyways so that's ok to me. But i absolutely want the 50 mm at the wide end, even if it is like 75mm for me. Still in my preferred range, i am not much of a a wideangle fan. Conclusion: It is smaller, less heavy, costs less, still suits my focal range needs and has that neat minimal focus distance. I dont make money with my photos it s just a hobby, so some compromises in image quality are fine and so this lens is the better choice for me of the 2 lenses.

Luminar Neo still does not support Nikon High Efficiency format RAW files. They will not process refunds if you purchased expecting file support like you get from all the other apps like Lightroom. They promise they will add the support in the "future" but will not let you pause your subscription until that happens. NIKON SHOOTERS STAY AWAY.

I am a total beginner with a A7C, Viltrox 16mm 1.8 (for night astro), Sony 55mm 1.8 and the kit lens 28-60....I had been thinking in a zoom lens for travel photography, zoo and id like a lens i could use in a Formula 1 track. Which one would you recommend me to buy??? right now the 50-300 is at 1,100 CAD and the 50-400 is 1,474 CAD and altough there is a $$ difference, 30% difference in cost is not the end of the world. Which one would you recommend me to buy???

My favorite is the 100-400 GM

I regret buying the Slypod. There is a wobble in the extended part that never gets resolved. When I spoke to the service, they dismissed it as a user error and said it was broken. Moreover, they said it can't be repaired. I bought it to shoot smooth footage, but the results are so poor that it's infuriating. I live in Turkey, and unfortunately, the Moza service did not solve my problem. It seems like a good idea, but it's not at all; your money and time will be wasted. Do not buy it.

I would like to see (even if i cannot buy it) 8k60 and 6k60 or even 6k120 with dual lenses VR 180, and ND filter at the sensor for VR lenses, 32 bits float audio, the screen from a7r5, ai processor, ssd connection, gimbal like gyro stabilization even with telephoto lenses, 2:35 filming with black bars, auto ai mode to pick person, animal automatically.

Is stabilization of the 50-300 better than ibis with an a7c with the 70-300?

Choice is easy if you have a lot a of money or earn a living in photography - not easy.

I really appreciate your time and effort to review these. For me, its weight and price against whether to go with native Sony lens for optimal quality on the Sony a7Rv. I’m not professional but don’t want to under buy for my camera. Considering Tamron 50-400 (or new 50-300) and Sony 100-400.

I just read the fine print on the website, and honestly, I don't see the point of paying for the "lifetime" plan. It doesn't sound very "lifetime" to me: "Get access to updates, bug fixes, improvements, and *SOME* new features. *BUT* big upgrades may require extra upgrade payments." (I emphasized the "some" and "but" in those sentences.)

Is Magnifacation higher than Magnification ?

Sony A7IV some big problems; The mechanical shutter is of poor quality (in my case I had to replace it after 20,000 clicks). We also only have the option of a maximum of 10 fps for photos, which is not enough, the resolution and brightness of the screen is not the best, also the evf has the same disadvantages; But the biggest minus is the poor quality of the mechanical shutter, one of the most annoying things is the fact that sony in the last updates (from 2.0) did not change anything in the camera, only gave us some "updates"; I hope they will start to respect customers more and give real updates. As for the sony A7V I hope it will not have any of the above minuses and I hope it will have a decent price (2400 pounds for the Sony A7IV is a price too high).

Hi what do you think of the new Sony 70-200 f4 macro lens. I am feeling like it can do two things vs just Macro. I have the Sony A7R5 and I use the Lumix S5ii withe new 100mm Macro lens so have that for Macro. Just feel that 70-200 might be a good lens. What do think 😊

Great video and I mostly agree with your assessment. Upgrading the LCD and EVF are majorly important to me and I wouldn't mind improved low-light focusing as well. I'm still rockin' 2 A7III bodies and hoping for a fall '24 release but have a feeling it'll be the first half of 2025.
